A murder investigation has been launched by police following a death in Milton Keynes.
Thames Valley Police reported that officers were called to a stabbing that happened at the centre:mk shopping centre in Central Milton Keynes yesterday (28/2) at around 5.10pm.
Despite life-saving efforts, a 52-year-old man sadly died at the scene. The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.
Police confirmed that a 50-year-old man from Towcester has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody.
The coroner has also been informed, but Thames Valley Police reported that the victim has not yet been formally identified.
A scenewatch is in place at the shopping centre, which has been closed today (01/03), with police reporting that they are working closely with Centre MK to resolve this at the earliest opportunity.
The force’s Major Crime Unit will now conduct a full murder investigation into the incident itself.
Chief Superintendent Emma Baillie, Local Commander for Milton Keynes, said, “We are in the very early stages of this murder investigation, but we have made an arrest and are we are not currently looking for anyone else. There is no known threat to the wider public.
“Members of the public are likely to see an increased police presence while we continue to investigate and we would advise anyone with any concerns to please speak to one of our uniformed officers.”
