A child was injured by a falling roof panel at a shopping centre in Central Milton Keynes.
The incident happened around 2:30pm yesterday (18/02) at Midsummer Place shopping centre, when police and fire services received reports of an injury caused by loose roof tiles.
It has since been confirmed that the victim was taken to hospital, though Thames Valley Police said the affected person sustained no serious injuries.
In a statement, Thames Valley Police said, “Emergency services responded to a health and safety incident at Midsummer Place, Central Milton Keynes, earlier today.
“At approximately 14:27, emergency services attended an incident in which an individual required medical treatment. South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust provided immediate care at the scene, and it has been confirmed that there were no serious or life‑threatening injuries.
“The matter has been referred for a health and safety investigation.”
Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue confirmed that one crew from Newport Pagnell and a turntable ladder crew from West Ashland, along with an officer attended.
In their statement, they said, “Firefighters who attended the scene used the turntable ladder to help secure cladding roof tiles. A girl was passed into the care of South Central Ambulance Service.
“Cordons were put in place and the incident was left in the hands of on site staff.”
