Ride High

Ride High is a registered charity based in Milton Keynes, dedicated to transforming the lives of disadvantaged children and young people aged 8–17 across Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, and Northamptonshire. Established in 2008 by Rachel Medill MBE, Ride High uses horses as a powerful tool to build confidence, resilience, and life skills in young people facing significant challenges, including poverty, neglect, abuse, and poor mental health.

What They Do

Ride High offers a structured, long-term programme where participants engage in learning to ride and care for horses, alongside clubroom activities that promote teamwork, responsibility, and personal development. Each week, around 120 children attend sessions that last between three to twelve months, depending on individual needs. The programme is designed to provide a safe, supportive environment where young people can build trust, develop new skills, and experience a sense of achievement.

The Ride High Equestrian Centre, situated in 37 acres of countryside in Loughton, Milton Keynes, serves as both the charity's base and a riding school open to the public. All profits from the riding school support the charitable work of Ride High, ensuring the sustainability of its programmes. The centre offers riding lessons, livery services, school holiday activities, and hacking, providing opportunities for the wider community to engage with and support the charity's mission.
