MK Play Association

Milton Keynes Play Association (MKPA) is a long-standing charity dedicated to providing accessible, child-centred play opportunities for children aged 4 to 14 in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas. Established in 1971, MKPA has been instrumental in promoting the importance of play in children's development and well-being.

Core Services and Activities

MKPA offers a diverse range of services to support children, families, and professionals:

  • Play Sessions and Projects: Organising fun and engaging play sessions in various locations, including parks and community spaces, to encourage outdoor play and social interaction.

  • Scrapstore and Resource Centre: Providing a "Scrapstore" that supplies clean, reusable materials for creative play and educational activities. This initiative promotes sustainability and resourcefulness among children and educators.

  • Training and Professional Development: Offering accredited training courses in areas such as safeguarding, first aid, and playwork to equip adults working with children with the necessary skills and knowledge.

  • Equipment Hire: Renting out play equipment, including bouncy castles and sports gear, to schools, community groups, and event organisers.

  • Advocacy and Support: Providing information, advice, and support to parents, carers, and professionals on issues related to children's play and development.

Community Impact

MKPA's initiatives have a significant positive impact on the local community by:

  • Enhancing Social Inclusion: Ensuring that all children, regardless of background or ability, have access to quality play opportunities.

  • Promoting Healthy Lifestyles: Encouraging physical activity and outdoor play, contributing to children's physical health and well-being.

  • Supporting Families: Offering resources and training to parents and carers, empowering them to support their children's development effectively.
