MK Food Bank

MK Food Bank is a vital lifeline for individuals and families facing food insecurity in Milton Keynes. Established to offer short-term crisis support, the charity ensures that no one in the community goes hungry during challenging times.

What They Do

MK Food Bank operates through a network of 13 serving centres across the city, providing emergency food parcels to those in need. In 2024 alone, the charity distributed over 23,000 food parcels, equating to more than 600,000 food items, and supported nearly 4,800 households. These parcels contain long-life food essentials designed to sustain individuals and families for up to three days.

In addition to emergency support, MK Food Bank runs seven Top-Up Shops, including five mobile units, offering affordable groceries to those experiencing ongoing financial hardship. These shops have seen a significant increase in usage, with over 7,000 visits in the past year, reflecting the growing need for accessible food resources in the community.

How They Make a Difference

The charity's impact extends beyond providing food. MK Food Bank supports:

  • Bereaved families coping with the loss of a primary breadwinner.

  • Low-income workers facing sudden financial crises due to unforeseen circumstances.

  • Parents and children fleeing domestic violence and needing immediate assistance.

  • Families with disabled children or sick relatives requiring additional support.

By addressing these needs, MK Food Bank helps individuals and families navigate through crises, providing them with the time and resources to rebuild and regain stability.
