MK Dons Community Trust

Milton Keynes Dons Sport & Education Trust (now rebranded as Milton Keynes Dons Community Trust) is a charity that’s all about changing lives through sport, education and community-engagement across Milton Keynes. It harnesses the power of football and learning to reach people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, helping build confidence, skills, and stronger social connections.

What it does & why it matters

  • Runs a huge range of programmes for more than 50,000 people a year, from toddlers to older adults — no one is excluded because of age or ability.

  • Offers inclusion sessions: wheelchair football, walking football, deaf / hearing-impaired, pan-disability and unified football; ensuring those with additional needs have opportunities to play, be active, and be part of a team.

  • Provides football pathways for boys and girls who wish to develop skills, plus coaching, match play and support.

  • Delivers educational courses, workshops & community sessions that go beyond sport: life-skills, mentoring, wellbeing, helping people who are disadvantaged or who may feel isolated.

  • Supports health & wellbeing via physical activity, bringing people together, combating loneliness, encouraging healthy lifestyles in communities where it’s harder to access these opportunities.

How it helps Milton Keynes, especially disadvantaged & diverse communities

  • Makes a special effort to reach young people from deprived areas, or from diverse ethnic backgrounds, giving them safe, structured, positive activities.

  • Ensures that cost, ability or disability are not barriers: many sessions are free or low cost, and inclusive by design.

  • Focuses on youth, coaching, education – helping with aspiration, offering opportunities some may not otherwise have.

  • Builds community cohesion: people from different backgrounds coming together through sport or learning.

How our listeners can support or get involved

  • Volunteer: coaching, helping run sessions, supporting with logistics, mentoring young people, helping with inclusion sessions. Your time can make a big difference.

  • Donate: giving helps keep programmes affordable, pay for equipment, facilities, scholarships, transport. One-off or regular gifts help the Trust plan more effectively.

  • Fundraise or take part: join in events, help at fun-days, sponsor a project, or organise your own challenge. Even small grassroots efforts count.

  • Corporate support: businesses can partner, provide sponsorship, help with pro bono skills, or offer employees time to assist.
