Age UK Milton Keynes

Age UK Milton Keynes has been dedicated to enhancing the lives of older residents in the city for over 45 years. As an independent local charity, it provides a range of services aimed at promoting well-being, independence, and quality of life for individuals aged 55 and above.

What They Do

The charity offers a variety of services to support older people, including:

  • Information & Advice Service: Providing free, confidential, and independent information and advice on various aspects of life, including welfare benefits, housing, and legal matters. In the financial year ending March 2025, advisers helped older people in the borough of Milton Keynes make successful claims for approximately £1.7 million in welfare benefits.

  • Befriending Service: Offering a free befriending service to individuals aged 55 and above who are experiencing loneliness or isolation. DBS-checked volunteers provide regular visits, offering companionship and a listening ear.

  • Walking Befriending: For those who have experienced significant life events, such as bereavement or illness, this service provides volunteer befrienders who accompany older individuals on short walks, helping to reduce isolation and improve well-being.

  • Charity Shops and Furniture Stores: Operating several shops across Milton Keynes, including in Olney, Stony Stratford, Woburn Sands, and Wolverton, the charity raises vital funds through the sale of donated items. These shops also serve as community hubs, fostering social connections among older residents.
